Genereals' General Thread of Genereal
Where we discuss whatever we please. No topic too meaningless! Shenanigans a plenty! It can be about anything from Whinnypeg to the best way to make a blueberry and spinach pie.
Mmmm, Blueberry and Spinach.

I recently got myself the Disgaea 4 premium edition.
If it takes long enough to ship, it'll be there just as my test week ends and I have some free time.
Hell yeah.

I didn't know The Iron Stallion had rainbow knuckles. Clearly, he is a stallion of great taste.

Well, they're strategy RPGs (Like Fire emblem and such. Basically, you have a squad of characters that you move around the battle map in your turn and perform actions with, and at the enemy turn the enemy army does the same, and so on) so if you don't like those its already not your thing.
The games in general are mostly light hearted and poke fun at themselves, but sometimes there are dramatic moments. (For instance, in the first game there is a very sad chapter that deals with death and losing your loved ones, and immediately in the next chapter the hammiest character in the game is introduced)
There are currently 4 games in the series, and the earlier ones got ported at least once, with the ports being the same game with added content. The stories aren't really connected to the previous games that much, though characters from earlier games do make appearances in the newer ones, and in the ports you can have characters from the next game appear too as cameos.
And as the series went on, the mechanics got more fleshed out, so if you were to play a later game and then an earlier one, it could be quite jarring cause of missing features.
As for which one I'd recommend, not sure, really. I love them all. Though, I would recommend the ports over the original versions because there are only improvements. Well, except for the DS version of the first game. Compared to the PSP port it took a major nosedive in visual and audio quality.
